My current problem is that even if the plugin registers and shows on the menu, when there is some error and it does not behave as expected, i don't know where to start looking for hints. i need to comment out import gimpfu, as it raises errors, and i don't get gtk working. In some places i saw recommendations to run it from within the python-fu console. Plugins usually don't work, how do I debug? This other guy had a similar problem, but the discussion got sidetracked. I've tried print statements, they go nowhere. This causes the output from "pdb.gimp_message(.)" to go to a terminal.īUT !!! this only works when everything is running as expected, i get no output on crashes. Gimp-2.8.exe -c -verbose # (as suggested by ) I am able to run it from the cmd shell, as This page suggests running it from the shell, or looking at ~/.xsession-errors I am trying to create a plug in in python for gimp.

#GIMP PLUGINS ARCHIVE#
If you really need something from the old site, there’s a static archive of the contents available on Github that you can access.EDITED HEAVILY with some new information (and a bounty) Hopefully we’ll also have similar functionality to Firefox Add-ons to allow ratings, uploads, and more (both in a web-based interface and from within GIMP). This means that in the future there will be an interface within GIMP to browse and manage the same types of assets you used to find on the registry (plugins, scripts, brushes, etc.). The one and only Jehan is currently working on integrating the functionality of the old registry site with a new approach by bringing it into GIMP properly.

On the good side, this cloud is not without a silver lining! This was not a trivial task to take over and the project is already stretched a little thin for volunteers.Ĭouple this with the fact that the interface and method of reaching users this way was outdated/needlessly complicated for users, and you can understand why we were ok with retiring the site. The problem is that the entire site was hosted on a very old installation of Drupal and there was nobody who was willing to step up and take ownership (including upgrading and maintaining the site long term).
